BFRI FDA Approved - Down 11%

BFRI stock dropped 11% immediately after FDA approval of Ameluz for superficial basal cell carcinoma, despite strong Phase 3 trial data (66% complete clinical response vs 5% placebo, 83% complete clearance of all lesions vs 21%). The author expresses frustration at the counterintuitive market reaction to what appears to be positive regulatory news.

“Watching for completeness, not a core pick”

10 penny biotechs I'm watching and slowly adding for September 2026, and the one I got wrong in August.

Ameluz PDT for superficial basal cell (expanding from actinic keratosis approval) cleared 65.5% vs 4.8% in pivotal trial, with PDUFA Sep 28. High approval probability on paper, but $21M market cap with only ~$5M liquidity and minimal options chain create execution and sizing constraints.
