Is anyone looking on CSGP (costar group)?

CSGP is trading at a steep discount (1/3 of year-ago price) on an 11.7B market cap with 3B in net cash. The core CoStar terminal business generates reliable cash flows, and if the CEO stops burning cash on the failing Zillow competitor, the company could generate 600M+ in net income and trade at a significant premium.

Some thoughts about COSTAR GROUP (CSGP)

The market appears to be valuing Apartments.com alone (~$12.5B at 20x its $625M EBITDA) at nearly the entire company's market cap, effectively pricing Homes.com, CoStar's Commercial CRE platform, and other segments as zero or negative value. The author suggests management may be trapped in an unprofitable spending war against Zillow on Homes.com (reminiscent of Meta's 2022 metaverse losses), implying the core business is being diluted by a value-destructive asset.
