Anyone buying Duolingo (DUOL)?

Duolingo sacrifices profitability for user growth, prioritizing DAU over education quality and deferring monetization. Management guidance shows 2026 Adjusted EBITDA margins compressing to 25% from 29.5% in 2025, and the company likely lacks a sustainable moat, making it overvalued.

“Longing DUOL calls into earnings”

DUOL recovery

DUOL is positioned to leverage AI to improve teaching outcomes and capitalize on language fluency becoming a social class indicator. The company will recover as users remain addicted to learning despite AI commoditizing translation, driving earnings growth and call profitability.

Long DUOL

I’ve invested $2m in SaaS stocks. This is why.

SaaS incumbents with strong teams, brand, and switching costs are oversold despite fundamentals. Existing companies have competitive advantages (sales/marketing presence, resources, client relationships) to expand wallet share and adapt to AI disruption faster than new entrants.

DUOL, HIMS, NKE and PYPL are all down 75-85% from their highs. Which selloffs are justified and which ones don't add up?

Duolingo's 82% decline appears mispriced if AI can coexist with the platform. Revenue grew 38% last year with stable 72% gross margins and strong free cash flow generation of $370M. Fair value estimate of $239–$330 versus current depressed levels.

Stocks I am watching out for during this selloff.

Duolingo fell to $119 and now trades at 15x P/E with excellent financials. Despite high risk from competitive alternatives and AI disruption, limiting exposure to 1-2% of portfolio makes it a reasonable speculative bet.

Why is Duolingo such a valuable company? I used this app and it’s unbelievable crap

Duolingo's app is inefficient and wastes users' time with repetitive exercises that don't teach genuine language skills beyond basic vocabulary. The company's high valuation is unjustified given the poor user experience and superior alternatives like traditional books.
